Most people often asks, what inspires me creatively? My usual answer is a myriad of things! But my biggest inspiration as a fashion designer is music. I find music has the ability to manifest a variety of moods and modes of thought that affect us on they way we then act.
For me in particular, I love when a song or track has the innate ability to evolve into something complex or devolve back to a simple beat or synth. I love EDM (Electronic Dance Music) because it’s packed with pure energy. Whether kinetic or cerebral it really resonates with me creatively!
A great song can inspire a color of a dress or a hyper sonic synth may inspire the cut or fit of the dress. Then a really killer bass line could determine the hemline. When I put together the “Coffee Haus Mix” it was a collection of tunes I jam to while designing and creating new fashion product in my design studio. I like this set of tunes specifically because it feels sexy and international.
It’s a groove that I would love to share at a fab beach party, or a chic house party with my friends! I admit it’s my first DJ mix and I’m sure it’s not the best, but given time, DJaying will be yet another area that I will perfect as I have my other creative abilities.
